What is the Lil' Cub's Bank?
Lil' Cub's Bank began as a pilot program in partnership with the Multi-Age Teachers at Nevada's Central Elementary in January of 2007. State Bank & Trust wanted to find a way to teach kids at an early age, the importance of establishing good saving skills that will last a lifetime. The establishment of the Lil' Cub's Bank seemed the perfect opportunity to accomplish this. Fourth grade students apply for positions at the bank. These positions include, tellers, board of directors, ledger balancers and marketing. Applicants are interviewed by SBT staff and those hired attend a training session where SBT employees act as customers to give them a good sense of how the bank will w
ork and how to interact with customers.
Lil' Cub's Bank is Wednesday mornings that school is in session, from 7:45 to 8:15. The bank is run by the students with SBT staff members there to help as advisors. If your child is in first thru fourth grade at Central Elementary School and you would like them to participate in this fun and educational program, please click on the application link above, complete the application and return it to your child's teacher, the bank or to the Lil' Cub's Bank.
